They are increasing in popularity faster than any other type of carpet. The loops are made from thick or bulky yarns of wool, nylon, polypropylene or a blend of these fibres providing high durability and are very good at maintaining its apperance. They can be either level loop of multilevel loop. The loops can be vulnerable to pulling from pets claws etc.

Shag pile is making come back. This extremely luxurious carpet with extra long tufts for that shaggy look, which is becoming increasingly popular again for the first time since its initial heyday in the 1970′s! This type of carpet is great for contemporary rooms in the house

Twisted carpets are one of the most popular types of carpet in the UK Twist pile is created from yarn which has been twisted tightly together. The loops are then cut in order to achieve its textured appearance. It is the most popular kind of carpet currently being produced. This style of carpet comes in plain colours, and also a ‘heather’ look which is made by combining yarns of complimentary shades together in the process of twisting. Ideal for any room in the home, Twists come in the widest variety of colours, shades and prices.

Carpets with a Velvet or Velour pile have a very smooth, elegant cut pile finish. Their gorgeously velveteen feel makes them absolutely perfect for bedrooms. Luxury carpets are often of a velvet construction. They are a beautiful luxury – but perhaps best kept to occasional rooms.

This type of dense, cut pile carpet is made with longer tufts than the other styles of carpet. Saxonies consist of two or more fibres twisted together in a yarn. The tips of the fibres remain very distinct, rather than blending together creating a soft texture and elegant finish. Saxonies show every footprint and vacuum-cleaner mark so are ideally suited to more occasional rooms in the home.

The rule of thumb in selecting a carpet is location, location, location. You will find that it pays dividends to spend slightly more for higher quality carpets for areas of high wear such as family and living areas. All carpets have suggested use locations, but if you are unsure please ask a member of the team for the right carpet for a particular room, before making the final decision.

Select a carpet that reflects your own personal style and the décor in a room. Lsm Flooring offers a range of carpets in varied different styles and colours that will work with any interior design scheme. By taking the time to look at colour and style samples in your home under both natural and artificial lighting, (Sample loan service Available) you can be sure of a making the right choice for your home.

Don’t be under the misconception that the carpet should match everything in the room. You will find that rooms are more successfully decorated when colours and tones are blended together. A carpet in a lighter colour than the walls will brighten a room and create a more pleasing flow as opposed to a carpet that matches the colour of the walls. By selecting the right colour you can enhance the positive features and compensate for factors such as small or dark rooms.
